Sunderland’s Dick Advocaat believes that his squad can escape relegation after defeating Southampton on May 2 with a scoreboard of 2-1.
Everton, Leicester City, Arsenal and Chelsea are the remaining opponents that Dick Advocaat and his players have to face off against before this season of the Premier League reaches it’s end and in order for Sunderland to continue competing in the English League for another year, they will have to add points in these upcoming matches.
Dick Advocaat and his men have a tough fixture lying ahead but the Dutch coach is confident that Sunderland will be able to avoid the bottom drop zone.
The Dutch coach of Sunderland voiced his confidence and motivation to his team after they defeated Southampton as Dick Advocaat said: ‘’We have to believe in it. What is it five games we have played now? Seven points? There are still four to go. Everything is still open. We have still everything in our own hands, and that's the most important thing.''
This 2-1 victory over Southampton was huge for Sunderland as they managed to keep their hopes of escaping relegation alive. The performance that the squad of Dick Advocaat displayed in this match has given the coach confidence and hope that they still have a lot to offer in these last stages of the Premier League and Advocaat had nothing but praise to say to his players after the match was over.
Sunderland’s Dick Advocaat talked to the press after the match reached it’s over as he said: “It was a great team performance; we knew we had to win today and it is a much-needed three points. It was a real team performance, not just from the 11 players but everyone involved. Everyone gave so much and worked so hard.”
Southampton is one of the breakthrough teams of the Premier League in this season and they were favorites on coming out on top with the victory but Sunderland somehow managed to secure all 3 points which is vital in their survival and it has even inspired the team to continue giving it everything they have on the pitch no matter which opponent they are facing, especially now in these crucial stages of the season.
