After being linked with a move away from Inter Milan only a few months ago, it looks like striker Diego Milito will be part of the team in the new campaign. He is still recovering from his major injury suffered last season. The striker has said on his official Facebook page that he cannot wait to return to first-team action.
The striker suffered a knee injury while playing against CFR Cluj in the Europa league back in February. It was initially expected that he will not be returning before October, but Milito has said that he is working extremely hard in order to make it into the team by the start of the season.
Inter Milan will have no other distractions other than the league this season after finishing in ninth position last campaign. Andrea Stramaccioni paid for this poor season with his job and he has been replaced by Napoli manager Walter Mazzarri. The club are keen to strengthen in a number of areas, but it is likely that Milito will remain as one of the important players in the coming season as well. The 34-year-old was part of the team that won the famous treble back in 2010 under José Mourinho. He managed nine goals in 20 matches for the club last season.
"I can't wait to return and get stuck into the new season. I am more determined than ever. I'm recovering in Argentina and it's all going well," said the 34-year-old on his official Facebook page. The club are also without another major player in the form of Javier Zanetti last season. The 39-year-old Argentine has been one of the legends of the club. He has made more than 700 appearances over the years due to the lack of any major injuries until his first last season.
