Former Inter Milan and Genoa striker Diego Milito is widely expected to join Argentine outfit Racing Club in the transfer window. He left the Italian outfit after his contract expired. Milito was one of the top strikers in world football and he helped Inter Milan lift their first Champions League title in almost 4 decades. Along with this, he was also part of the teams numerous title victories. However, at 34 years of age, he was slowly coming to the end of his career. He revealed last season that he intends to finish his career by playing for an Argentine club.
The former Argentina international has been heavily linked with a move to Racing Club in the last few months. In fact, former Inter defender Walter Samuel also revealed that Milito has been trying to convince him to join Racing Club. As a result, it looks almost a done deal that the striker will join the Argentine outfit, but no contract has been signed yet. Racing Club president Victor Blanco is not panicking come as he is confident that the club will sign the player. He says that there’s also no rush in order to complete the deal because there are few clubs interested in the player.
It is expected that Milito will become one of the club’s ambassadors after he joins the outfit on a free transfer. “He still hasn’t signed but there is no rush. Until he comes and signs there is nothing we can confirm. I can say, however, that without doubt Diego will be one of our ambassadors for everything that football represents,” said the club president. Milito recently confirmed his exit from Inter Milan after saying a final goodbye to the fans. He also stated that the Italian club will forever be in his heart.
