Former Inter Milan striker Diego Milito has suffered a major injury that could see him remain on the sidelines for several months.
Now playing for Argentine outfit Racing Club, it remains to be seen if the 35-year-old will come back in the best possible shape given his age. The Argentine season has just begun withRacing Club being involved in seven matches to date. After a poor start to the season, the team have managed to secure three wins from their last four matches. In total, they have 12 points from the opening seven matches of the league season.
Manager Diego Cocca will have a major task on his hands to replace the experienced Milito, who has won several major titles in his career including the Champions League.Cocca has revealed that Milito is not even in a position to run due to the severity of the knee injury. This may result in the club taking him very cautiously over the next few months. The club will now have to rely upon the names like Nunez and Bou for their goals. Despite average start in the league campaign,Racing Club have done well in the Copa Libertadores with nine points from four matches. It has put them on the verge of qualification to the next round.
“We must take care of Diego, he is having a bad moment, he cannot even jog. These are difficult times, when you are injured and can do very little to recover. He has fluid on his knee, it is very swollen and must be cared for.He is disappointed, but he must give priority to his knee. He has to be good, he is doing his best to get back as quickly as possible, but for sure he won’t be ready next Tuesday for the Copa Libertadores,” said Cocca.
