The Danish national football side has been struggling trying to qualify for big competitions including the 2014 FIFA World Cup and the 2016 UEFA Euro’s.
Denmark failed to get into those tournaments back when Morten Olsen was in charge of the national side and it was because of this underwhelming spell that Olsen was sacked and removed from his managerial position in Denmark and replaced by Age Hereide.
“Whether we only have two training sessions, have had 10 or have been together for 10 months, we play to win. A winning mentality is crucial and it will help to lift the team immediately if we can collect victories in these games. But it may take time; we can’t say everything will be functioning properly immediately. Therefore, it is good that we have five friendly matches before we play in the World Cup qualifiers.” Age Hereide said after being selected as the new coach of Denmark.
Age Hereide took charge of Denmark on December of 2015 and so far, he guided the national side to a 2-1 triumph over Iceland and a defeat when playing against Scotland.
The next task of Age Hereide is to help Denmark qualify for the 2018 FIFA World Cup and in order for this to be done, they will have to snatch the 1rst or the 2nd spot of Group E which consists of: Romania, Poland, Montenegro, Armenia and Kazakhstan.
There are no clear favorites of which team is going to progress past the group stages. Denmark was not able to qualify for the 2014 FIFA World and they are aiming to reach further this time around.
