BAUZA SELECTION RANGE CLIPPED BY SUSPENSIONS AND INJURIES

Argentina are set to face Bolivia at La Paz in a crucial World Cup qualifierbut the players that are available for selection have been reduced as suspensions, warnings and injuries creep in.

After the battle with Chile, Argentina have 13 players on warnings, just a yellow card away from suspensions as Argentina face more problems in their World Cup qualifying bid.

Lucas Biglia, Nicolas Otamendi, Gonzalo Higuain and Javier Mascherano are set to miss the game due to suspensions while Gabriel Mercado and Emmanuel Mas are sidelined. Edgardo Bauzahave responded to the situation of things by inviting Lucas Alario, Ivan Marcone and MatiasCaruzzo. Ramiro Funes Mori is also set to feature after serving his suspensions.

Alario’s call-up comes as little surprise, considering that he has been making the team in recent squads. The player has been labelled the “number nine of the future” by the coach. Bauza shares strong faith in the potential of the 24-year old. He is one of the biggest South American prospects that replaced the legend Fernando Cavenaghi at River Plate. He helped the club to a third Copa Libertadores title and has been making the waves in the transfer market.

Caruzzo is a logical choice considering that he has spent his whole career on home soil. He has been mentioned as a backup plan before since getting players from Europe on short notice would be difficult. Marcone on the other hand has proven himself as one of the top players in central midfield in the Primera Division. He has the experience playing for top clubs including Premier League side Arsenal.

The trio might not be named in the starting line-up but they would likely be called upon when the team gets stuck. Argentina are set to play the 5-4-1 as they manage the tricky situation at hand.
